Russell Loveridgeis Managing Director of the Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research Digital Fabrication (NCCR DFAB). He studied civil engineering and then architecture, completing his MAS at ETH Zurich, and his PhD at EPF Lausanne. He has worked professionally in architecture and construction, and has extensive academic experience as both a researcher and project manager. Russell coordinates the NCCR’s multi-disciplinary team of researchers, engineers and technical staff, guiding one of the most advanced multi-disciplinary research consortiums worldwide that focuses on changing the way we design and build.
Session #2 – Postdoctoral Networking
Objectives: Assist late stage researchers with career development and networking
- 1. Provide guidance on late-stage career development in sciences, teaching and research
- 2. Conduct Networking skills exercises
- 3. Provide time for participants to network
This workshop is intended for senior researchers and postdocs, and will provide guidance and support in later-stage career development. The workshop focuses on identifying and improving soft-skills of dealing with People, Responsibilities, and Communication all within the scope of academia. The initial presentations will provide guidance on strategic development, presentation skills, mentoring, and collaboration. The exercises are aimed at improving networking and discussion skills. The final time of the workshop will allow for all participants to interact, and to practice the learned skills. The goal of this workshop is to provide senior AAEC researchers with knowledge and networks as support in the advancement of their career.
